Description
A Title in J. Ross Publishing’s Acoustics: Information and Communication Series
This full-color book contains the state-of-the-art knowledge and latest trends and developments in architectural acoustics research. This reference will play a fundamental role in the sustainable progress of architectural acoustics research and practical applications. World-renowned experts in the field from both the research and consulting communities contributed to the 15 chapters covering a wide range of sub-fields including computational modeling, noise, vibration controls, and environmental acoustics in the built environment and around buildings. With information not found anywhere else, this handbook is geared for architectural acoustics research, education in academia, and practical applications among acoustics consultants and industry engineers. It is divided into two Parts: Architectural Acoustics Essentials and Architectural Acoustics Practice.

About the author(s)
Dr. Ning Xiang earned his Ph.D. from the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) in Bochum, Germany. Dr. Xiang was then employed as a project manager and R&D engineer for Head Acoustics, Inc. in Germany and subsequently joined the Fraunhofer-Institute for Building Physics, Stuttgart, as a Research Scientist. From 1998 until 2003, he was a Research Scientist at the National Center for Physical Acoustics and a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Mississippi. Currently, Dr. Xiang is Full Professor and Chair of the Graduate Program in Architectural Acoustics, School of Architecture at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He has published three books and more than 300 publications in proceedings and peer-reviewed journals. In 2014, he received the Wallace Clement Sabine Medal from the ASA. He served as the Chair of the Technical Committee on Signal Processing in Acoustics of the ASA from 2012 to 2015, and he has been serving an Associate Editor of the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America (JASA) for over a decade. He is also an Editorial Board member of ASA-Press.
